DURHAM – Duke Vice President and Director of Athletics
Nina King announced on Tuesday appointments and promotions to members of Duke Athletics' leadership team.
On the Executive Staff,
Heather Ryan has been promoted to Deputy Director of Athletics, Student-Athlete Experience/Senior Woman Administrator,
Bob Weiseman to Deputy Director of Athletics, Operations and Capital Projects and
Jack Winters to Senior Associate Director of Athletics, Iron Dukes Annual Fund.
Ryan will continue to oversee Student-Athlete Development, Equipment Operations and remain the sport administrator for Swimming and Diving, while adding the oversight of Athletic Medicine, Sports Performance, Behavioral Health, and Nutrition. Weiseman, who handles the primary administrative duties with Duke's field hockey and women's basketball programs, will continue to oversee Athletic Facilities, Game Operations, Championships and Events, while leading the capital project strategy, planning and execution for the department. Winters joins the Executive Staff and will continue to oversee the Annual Fund, assist in managing the Iron Dukes office staff and serve as the primary sport administrator for Women's Golf.
Furthermore, Assistant Director of Athletics, Employee Engagement and Experience
Meghan Weiseman and Assistant Director of Athletics, Behavioral Health
Dr. Shawn Zeplin have been added to the department's Senior Staff. Zeplin now serves as the primary sport administrator for Wrestling.
King also announced the hiring of
Taren Moore as Senior Associate Director of Athletics, People, Culture, and Community/Chief Diversity Officer. Returning to Duke after previously serving on the Athletics staff from 2016-21, she will oversee Human Resources, serve as a liaison to Duke's Office of Durham and Community Affairs, and manage the department's efforts related to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. Moore, who spent the last year on the Athletics leadership team at the University of Tennessee, will be a member of the Executive Staff.
