DURHAM – The United Soccer Coaches announced the goalkeepers on its NCAA Division I Women's Players to Watch list on Friday, with Duke senior
Ruthie Jones one of 13 selected. Â
The list includes United Soccer Coaches All-Americans and first or second team All-Region players from 2021, who are scheduled to return for the 2022 season.
Along with Jones on the list were Maddy Anderson (Mississippi State), Allie Augur (Georgetown), Lauren Brzykcy (UCLA), Nadia Cooper (Washington State), Leah Freeman (Oregon), CJ Graham (Lipscomb), Glo Hinojosa (California-Irvine), Lauren Kellett (TCU), Bella Killgore (Rice), Lauren Kozal (Michigan State), Ashley Orkus (Mississippi) and Kaitlyn Parks (Wake Forest). Â
A native of Charlotte, N.C., Jones recently represented the United States on the U-23 Women's National Team trip to Sweden, after coming off a stellar junior campaign where she was a First Team All-ACC selection. She recorded 46 saves with a .793 save percentage, while allowing just 12 goals for an ACC-best 0.59 goals against average.
Jones registered nine complete-game shutouts, including four against ranked opponents, tying for the most in the conference. Jones also earned TopDrawerSoccer.com Best XI First Team honors and was a second team All-Atlantic Region selection by United Soccer Coaches.
Duke will feature two exhibition games on Aug. 8 at Georgia and Aug. 12 at home versus South Carolina, before opening the regular season at East Carolina on Aug. 18. Â
