DURHAM – The Duke men's and women's soccer programs held a media availability on Monday morning with members of the local media as the Blue Devils prepare for the opening of the 2022 season.
Head coach John Kerr, who enters his 15th season with the Blue Devils, along with junior Peter Stroud and graduate student Eliot Hamill represented the men's team. In this 22nd season at Duke, head coach Robbie Church along with senior Sophie Jones and graduate student Delaney Graham were in attendance from the women's team.
The men's program enters the season ranked No. 12 nationally, which is the highest preseason ledger since 2019, after coming off a 14-5-1 record and finishing as ACC Co-Coastal Division Champions. The Blue Devils feature two remaining exhibition contests Aug. 16 and Aug. 19 at home in Koskinen Stadium, before opening the season Aug. 26 versus San Diego at 7:30 p.m., in Durham.
The women's program is preseason ranked No. 2, after turning in a 16-4-1 ledger and an appearance in the NCAA quarterfinals. The Blue Devils welcome back eight starters and 18 letterwinners from a season ago. Duke opens the regular season on Thursday, Aug. 18 at East Carolina at 7 p.m., live on ESPN+.
