Blue Devils Open Preseason Practice Tuesday

DURHAM – The 2022 Duke volleyball team kicked off the program's 52nd season Tuesday ahead of the anticipated fall season.
Entering her 24th season at the helm of the program, head coach Jolene Nagel returns nine letterwinners from this past season's squad in addition to eight newcomers. During her Duke tenure, Nagel has led the Blue Devils to 13 NCAA Tournament appearances and 14 seasons with 20 or more victories.
BREAKING DOWN THE 2022 ROSTER
Freshmen: Taylor Atkinson, Christina Barrow, Kerry Keefe, Millie Muir, Sofia Ortega & Sydney Tomlak
Redshirt Freshman: Ngozi Iloh
Sophomores: Rylie Kadel, Rachel Richardson & Nikki Underwood
Juniors: Georgia Stavrinides & Sydney Yap
Seniors: Lizzie Fleming, Gracie Johnson, Camille Nazor & Moorea Wood
Graduates: Madison Bryant & Devon Chang
In addition to the six freshmen, Duke welcomes two graduate students in Madison Bryant (Tennessee) and Devon Chang (UCLA).
As well as some new faces, the offseason brought a couple coaching changes as Kellie Catanach Johnson was elevated to associate head coach while Jeremy Garcia joined the staff in an assistant role.
The Blue Devils concluded the 2021 season 16-13 overall and 7-11 in ACC competition.
Duke welcomes Davidson for an exhibition match Saturday, Aug. 20 at 2 p.m., in Cameron Indoor Stadium. Duke opens the 2022 campaign Aug. 26-27 at the BYU Invitational in Provo, Utah.
The full television schedule will be released later this month by the ACC and ESPN. Every Duke home game will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks – ACC Network or ACC Network Extra.
