DURHAM – The Duke men's soccer program has been awarded the United Soccer Coaches College Team Academic Award for the 2021-22 academic year, as the organization announced on Friday.
Â
A total of 746 soccer teams (220 men, 382 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2021-22 academic year. Duke was one of 130 programs across the nation to have both the men's and women's teams honored for their efforts in the classroom.
Â
Under the guidance of head coach
John Kerr and his coaching staff, the Blue Devils finished with a cumulative GPA of 3.58.
Â
The award is another in a line of academic successes for the Blue Devils, who had eight named to the All-ACC Academic Team back in January. That number was the most by a Blue Devils team since 2011.
Â
Duke is set to open the 2022 season with three exhibitions, beginning with a trip to South Carolina on Saturday, Aug. 13 at 7 p.m.
