DURHAM – A trio of Duke women's golfers –
Megan Furtney,
Rylie Heflin and Andie Smith – will be in action this week competing at two different amateur events.
Furtney and Heflin will travel to Northfield, Ill., to play in the 122nd Women's Western Amateur, which will take place from July 19-23 at the Sunset Ridge Country Club. Smith, an incoming freshman from Hobe Sound, Fla., will see action in the Sea Island Women's Amateur July 19-21 at the Seaside Course in St. Simons Island, Ga.
In the Women's Western Amateur, the golfers will play 36 holes of stroke play qualifying, before the top 32 move to match play from July 21-23. The Sea Island Women's Amateur will feature 54 holes of stroke play across three days July 19-21.
Duke has three different alumnae that have taken home the Women's Western Amateur – Sarah LeBrun Ingram (1991), Stephanie Sparks (1993) and Brittany Lang (2003).
