DURHAM – Junior
Chloe Beck has been tabbed to the 2021-22 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) 2021-22 Academic All-America® First Team, as the organization announced the women's at-large team selections on Wednesday.
The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. Beck was selected Academic All-District III in May and earned a spot on the Academic All-America® ballot.
Beck is just the fourth women's tennis player in program history and the first since 1999 to earn a selection to one of the CoSIDA Academic All-America women's teams, joining Julie Exum (1993), Monica Mraz (1995) and Vanessa Webb (1999). Webb garnered first-team honors, while Mraz and Exum were named to the second and third team, respectively.
The Watkinsville, Ga, native led the team in singles wins and finished a stellar junior campaign with an overall record of 34-11 and an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national singles ranking of No. 8. Beck finished the regular season with an 18-0 mark and a 13-0 record in ACC play, making her the first Duke player since 2018 to finish conference play undefeated. Beck posted 12 wins over ranked opponents, including a pair of top-10 wins over No. 7 Irina Cantos (Ohio State) and No. 4 Cameron Morra (UNC). She also formed a potent doubles pairing with rookie
Ellie Coleman at No. 2 doubles, going 11-4 in dual match play and 7-0 in the ACC.
In addition, Beck recently garnered All-ACC honors for the second time in her career, as she received a nod to the first team, and was also tabbed an ITA All-American in singles play.
