DURHAM – Duke concluded the 2022 season ranked No. 21 in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Collegiate Tennis Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point, the organization announced Wednesday.
The ranking marks Duke's highest since finishing the 2015 season No. 10 in the final ITA poll.Â
The Blue Devils made their 28th overall appearance in the NCAA tournament earlier this month and their 27th showing in the last 30 seasons. Duke registered four wins over top-25 ranked opponents this past season, including a 5-2 victory over North Carolina on March 16. That win handed the Blue Devils their first over the Tar Heels since April 20, 2014. Additionally, the team strung together a six-match winning streak from March 6-25.
Duke's top singles player,Â
Garrett Johns, also represented the Blue Devils during the 2022 NCAA Singles Championship this month. Johns became the first Blue Devil in the national singles competition since
Nicholas Alvarez made the field in 2018.
Virginia, the 2022 National Champions, garnered the top spot, followed by Florida, TCU, Baylor and Ohio State closing out the top-five.
