GREENSBORO – Duke sophomore
Ian Siebers has been named to the 2022 All-ACC Men's Golf Team, which was announced Wednesday.
Siebers is an All-ACC honoree for a second consecutive season as the sophomore leads the Blue Devils in stroke average at 71.07. The 15-member All-ACC Team, along with the Player, and Freshman of the Year are decided by a combination of the Golfstat and Golfweek/Sagarin rankings in conjunction with a vote of the league's 12 head coaches. Coach of the Year was selected by a vote of the coaches.
Ranked 62nd by Golfstat and 82nd by Golfweek, Siebers owns the 14th-best scoring average in the ACC. He joins five others as repeat All-ACC selections from last season – Jacob Bridgeman (Clemson), Austin Greaser (North Carolina), Maximilian Steinlechner (NC State), Michael Brennan (Wake Forest), Alex Fitzpatrick (Wake Forest).
The Bellevue, Wash., native leads Duke with his 71.07 average, along with six top-10 finishes and seven top-20's in the nine events he competed. Siebers has been the Blue Devils' leading finisher four times – with a T-4th at the Old Town Club Collegiate, a T-10th at the Hamptons Intercollegiate, a T-9th at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate and a ninth at the Watersound Collegiate.
All 27 of his rounds have counted this season and his career scoring average of 71.07 currently stands as Duke's all-time record. Former Blue Devil
Alex Smalley graduated in 2019 as the career record-holder at 71.32.
The Blue Devils are next in action at the NCAA Columbus Regional set for May 16-18 at the OSU Golf Club's Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio. The five low teams from each regional site advance to the NCAA Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., in late May.
