Duke Checks in at No. 5 in Latest ITA Poll

DURHAM – Duke women's tennis ascended to No. 5 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Team Rankings after dispatching No. 1 North Carolina, 5-2, in the regular season finale this past Friday.
The Blue Devils (16-3, 11-2 ACC) ended the regular season on a five-match win streak and climbed four spots from their previous ranking of nine after handing the Tar Heels their first loss of the season. Wednesday's rankings marked Duke's second appearance in the top five this season.
In addition to its spot in the top-five, Duke also features four singles players and three doubles pairs in the ITA rankings. Reigning ACC Player of the Week Chloe Beck leads the way in singles action at No. 8, while senior Georgia Drummy jumped seven spots up to No. 14. Classmate Kelly Chen and freshman Emma Jackson round out the quartet, checking in at No. 100 and No. 124, respectively.
In doubles play, Duke is led by Beck and freshman Ellie Coleman at No. 27 – the duo registered the Blue Devils' largest climb as they catapulted 28 spots up the leaderboard from 55th. Sophomore Karolina Berankova and Drummy improved their position in the doubles rankings as well, moving seven spots up to No. 31, while Beck and senior Margaryta Bilokin are slotted 90th.
The Blue Devils are also ranked fifth in the Tennis Channel / USTA College Tennis Top-25 poll.
Duke earned the No. 2 seed in this weekend's ACC Women's Tennis Championship and received a double bye into the quarterfinal round. The Blue Devils will play the winner of the match between seventh-seeded Wake Forest and 10th-seeded Syracuse on Friday at 6 p.m. All matches will take place at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College in Rome, Ga.
