DURHAM – Duke women's soccer head coach
Robbie Church has announced the team's schedule for the 2022 season.
The 2022 campaign marks the 35th season for the Blue Devils program and features 17 regular season matches. Duke will face 10 opponents that earned a bid to the 2021 NCAA Championship, including five teams that advanced to the Round of 16.
The Blue Devils will play nine of their regular season matches in addition to one exhibition contest at Koskinen Stadium, where they posted a 12-3-0 record a season ago. The ACC Championship is set to be held Oct. 30-Nov. 6 at the WakeMed Soccer Complex in Cary, N.C.
Duke's schedule kicks off with two exhibition matches against SEC opponents, led by a trip to Athens, Ga., to take on Georgia on Monday, Aug. 8. The Blue Devils then get their first live action at Koskinen when they host South Carolina on Friday, Aug. 12. Both games are set for a 6 p.m. ET start.
Duke will travel to face East Carolina in Greenville, N.C., for its regular-season opener on Thursday, Aug. 18. Following their home opener versus UNC Greensboro on Sunday, Aug. 21, the Blue Devils head out to Knoxville, Tenn., four days later to face a Tennessee squad that went 20-3-0 and claimed the SEC Tournament title last season. Duke will return home to take on Charlotte on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 6 p.m.
For the third time in four seasons, Duke is set to welcome an elite program from the west coast to Koskinen Stadium, as the Blue Devils host UCLA on Thursday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. It will mark the first match between the two teams since the 2017 NCAA College Cup Semifinal in Orlando, Fla.
Duke then travels to Fort Worth, Texas, for a road match at TCU, which won the Big 12 Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Round of 16 a season ago. The Blue Devils and Horned Frogs square off on Sunday, Sept. 4 at 2 p.m. ET.
The non-conference schedule wraps up with the 50th installment of the Tobacco Road Rivalry, as North Carolina will make the short trip to Koskinen Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 8 for a 7 p.m. first kick. The Blue Devils defeated the No. 2-ranked Tar Heels 1-0 in Chapel Hill, N.C., last season and will aim to collect back-to-back victories for the first time in the historic series.
Duke opens ACC play with alternating home and road matches over a 14-day span in late September. The team travels to Syracuse on Sept. 16, hosts Boston College on Sept. 22, plays at NC State on Sept. 25 and finishes the stretch against Virginia at Koskinen on Sept. 30.
The marquee match against Virginia kicks off a three-game home stand, as Duke heads into October welcoming Wake Forest on Thursday, Oct. 6 and Pittsburgh on Sunday, Oct. 9.
Three of the team's final four matches of the regular season will be played on the road, beginning Friday, Oct. 14 at Florida State. The Blue Devils are the last team to defeat the reigning national champion Seminoles, earning a 1-0 home win in October of 2021. Duke will follow up an Oct. 20 match at Clemson with its home finale against Louisville on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 1 p.m. The regular season slate concludes Thursday, Oct. 27, at Notre Dame.
Church's squad looks to build on a memorable 2021 campaign in which Duke posted a 16-4-1 record, earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Championship and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the eighth time in the last 11 years. The Blue Devils ended the year ranked No. 5 in the United Soccer Coaches poll, holding a spot in the top 10 throughout the entire season. Duke also went 7-2-1 in ACC play with three wins over ranked opponents, marking the fifth time under Church that the team finished in the top three in the conference standings.

FAMILIAR FOES
- Duke has played against each of its 2022 opponents at least once in program history.
- After facing East Carolina for the first time last season, the Blue Devils and Pirates are set to square off once again in non-conference play. Duke claimed a 5-0 victory over ECU at Koskinen Stadium on Sept. 9, 2021.
- The Blue Devils will take on Tennessee for the first time since 2006. The programs played four matches from 2001-06, with each side recording one win, one loss and two draws.
- Duke and TCU have faced one another just once before – a 6-0 Duke win on Sept. 22, 2000 in Durham.
- The Blue Devils will play Charlotte for the eighth time in program history and first time since 2016. Head coach Robbie Church spent five seasons in the same role with the 49ers (1994-98), guiding the program to two Conference USA titles and its first NCAA Championship appearance.
