PINEHURST, N.C. – Sophomores
Jimmy Zheng and
Ian Siebers are inside the top 10 and the Duke men's golf team sits in second place through two rounds of the Wake Forest Invitational at Pinehurst No. 2.
The Blue Devils are 31-over through 36 holes on a tightly-packed leaderboard that sees Clemson leading at 20-over par. East Carolina (+32) is in third, Wake Forest (+33) in fourth and San Francisco (+34) in fifth to round out the top five of the 12-team field.
Zheng shot a 4-over 144 Monday with rounds of 74 and 71 to sit in a tie for fourth, while Siebers carded rounds of 72 and 74 and is tied for ninth at 6-over 146. Clemson's Colby Patton leads the tournament through 36 holes at 1-over 141 on the par-70 Pinehurst No. 2 course.
Freshman
Luke Sample is tied for 26th at 11-over 151 (76-75) and classmate
Kelly Chinn is two strokes back at 13-over 153 (79-74) and tied for 38th. Senior
Quinn Riley is 16-over 156 (76-80) to sit in 49th place.
Playing individually, freshman
John Peters is tied for 33rd at 12-over 152 (78-74), while sophomore
Daniel Uranga is 29-over and in 63rd place.
Duke is paired with Clemson and East Carolina for Tuesday's final round, which begins at 8:50 a.m., with live scoring available at golfstat.com.
