DURHAM – The NCAA released its first Women's Basketball NET Ranking of the 2022-23 season on Monday with Duke checking in at No. 17.
Duke at 17th is one of six ACC teams rated in the top 25 of the NET. The other five teams include No. 7 NC State, No. 8 Virginia Tech, No. 9 Notre Dame, No. 11 North Carolina and No. 25 Virginia Tech.
The NCAA Evaluation Tool (NET) is the contemporary sorting tool used to measure a team's quality and help evaluate team resumes for selection and seeding in the NCAA tournament. NET ranking is determined by who you played, where you played, how efficiently you played and the result of the game.
Duke has posted an 8-1 record through nine games this season, going undefeated at home (4-0) and in true road contests (3-0) while being 1-1 in neutral site games. The Blue Devils are 2-1 this season against teams ranked in the top 100 of the NET Ranking, notching convincing wins versus Oregon State (No. 59) and at Toledo (No. 65). Duke's lone loss came to UConn, which checks in at No. 3 in the NET.
The Blue Devils have won each of their games by an average of 21.3 points per game and have held six of their opponents to 50 points or less. Duke has held its foes to 31.4 percent shooting from the floor and an average of 50.6 points per game, marks that rank fourth and seventh in the NCAA, respectively.
