Setting the Scene...
Coming off an impressive victory against then No. 17 Notre Dame and postponement of the Georgia Tech contest, the 17th-ranked Duke women's basketball team (10-2, 1-1 ACC) will travel to Syracuse, N.Y., to face Syracuse (8-6, 1-3) on Sunday, Jan. 9 at 2 p.m.
The game will be carried live on RSN-TV, ESPN+ and ACC Network Extra with Dean Linke (PXP) and Amy Audibert (Color) calling the action. The contest will also be aired via tape delay on the YES Network beginning at 3:30 p.m.
It will be carried on the Blue Devil Sports Network via WDNC AM 620, the Varsity Network app and www.GoDuke.com with Chris Edwards (PXP) on the air at 1:45 p.m.

A Look at Syracuse...
Syracuse enters Sunday with an 8-6 overall and 1-3 league mark, but the Orange have lost two straight games after winning six consecutive contests.
On the season, Syracuse has been led by five double-digit scorers -- Chrislyn Carr (14.6), Teisha Hyman (14.2), Christianna Carr (13.1), Naje Murray (12.9) and Alaysia Styles (10.5).
The Series with Syracuse...
Duke and Syracuse will face off for the 10th time in program history with Duke leading the series 6-3. The two teams have met six times in the last 10 years. The Blue Devil's longest win streak against the Orange is three games from December 30, 1995 to January 8, 2015.
In its last meeting, Duke dropped an 88-58 decision on January 23, 2020 in Syracuse, N.Y. The Blue Devils are 2-2 in games played in the Carrier Dome.
Duo Miss Notre Dame Game...
Amaya Finklea-Guity and
Emma Schmidt missed the Blue Devil contest against Notre Dame due to Duke's health & safety protocols.
In the previous game at Virginia Tech, Schmidt,
Imani Lewis and
Shayeann Day-Wilson missed the contest.
Duke's medical team determined no other members of the program were at risk with this circumstance.

• The Blue Devils (8.0) and Orange (8.5) are averaging a combined 16.5 made 3-pointers a contest.
• Duke's win against No. 17 Notre Dame on Sunday marked the first ACC victory for Blue Devil head coach

• After draining only two 3-pointers over the previous five contests,
Lexi Gordon sank 2-of-6 treys against Notre Dame. She owns 22 treys on the season.
• Duke hit 50.0 percent from the field versus Notre Dame, snapping a streak of three straight contests hitting below 40.0 percent from the field. The Blue Devils have hit 50.0 percent from the field in four games this season.

Lexi Gordon will face her former Texas Tech teammates, Chrislyn Carr and Naje Murray, on Sunday.
Gordon and Carr played the last two seasons together with the Red Raiders, while Murray and Gordon played together in 2020-21.

Celeste Taylor will head to her home state of New York this weekend when the Blue Devils travel to Syracuse, N.Y., to face the Orange. It will mark the first time as a collegiate student-athlete Taylor has played in her home state.
Taylor is from Valley Stream, N.Y., which is approximately four and a half hours away from Syracuse.
Goodchild Gets First Start...
Senior
Miela Goodchild has been getting more minutes recently and she was rewarded Sunday against Notre Dame with her first start of the season.
Goodchild took full advantage of the opportunity and scored 13 points, while hitting 5-of-5 field goals and 3-of-3 treys. She also added four rebounds, two assists and one steal.
She has drained at least one 3-pointer in five straight contests, while hitting 8-of-16 from downtown during that stretch.
Goodchild had scored double-digits twice over the last two games.
Balogun Coming on Strong...
Senior
Elizabeth Balogun has been picking up her play as of late, averaging 14.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.3 blocks over the last seven contests. Balogun has hit 55.3 percent from the field and 41.7 percent from downtown in that stretch.
Balogun was exceptional in the win over then 17th-ranked Notre Dame with a season-high 27 points, including the game-winner. She drained a season-high three 3-pointers and hit 11-of-16 field goals.
She has registered double-digit scoring in five of the last seven games, including a then season-high 14 points at Charleston Southern, then season-high 22 points at Virginia Tech and a season-high 27 points against Notre Dame.
Over the last three games, Balogun has averaged 21.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocks. She has hit 59.1 percent from the field and 46.2 percent from downtown.
In two ACC games, Balogun has averaged 24.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, 1.5 steals and 1.0 assists. She has hit 60.6 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from 3-point land.
