DURHAM – Duke women's tennis senior
Georgia Drummy has been named Duke's PNC Achievers Student-Athlete of the Week, following her 3-0 overall record in a 2-0 weekend for Duke that featured wins over No. 10 Ohio State and No. 23 Princeton.
The Dublin, Ireland native played the No. 1 spot in singles and beat two top-10 opponents – No. 6 Irina Cantos Siemers of Ohio State (7-6 (5), 6-4) and Princeton's fourth-ranked Daria Frayman (6-3, 6-2). Drummy's win over Frayman Sunday afternoon tied the overall score at 2-2 and was the first of three straight victories for the Blue Devils en route to clinching the match, 4-2.
She also played in the No. 3 doubles slot with sophomore
Karolina Berankova, with the pair posting a 6-1 victory over Princeton's Victoria Hu/Leena Bennetto to earn Duke's lone doubles win of the match.
Duke women's tennis resumes competition this weekend as the Blue Devils host ITA Kickoff Weekend, starting with a matchup against Nebraska on Jan. 29 at 10 a.m.
