DURHAM – Former Duke women's basketball standout and WNBA champion, Lexie Brown, will compete in Athletes Unlimited's inaugural basketball season, which tips off Jan. 26 at Athletes Unlimited Arena at the Sport Center of Las Vegas.
Brown will join 43 other players that will tip off Athletes Unlimited first basketball season. Of the 44 women, 43 have represented a total of 37 NCAA Division I Institutions, 42 spent time in international professional leagues and 16 players have WNBA experience across 97 seasons with six championships. The season will last six weeks and feature 30 contests.
Games will be broadcast in the U.S. on either FOX Sports, CBS Sports Network, Bally Sports or Athletes Unlimited digital channels. Additional international media partners will also be added.
A draft will be aired live on YouTube on Jan. 23 at 3 p.m.
"Athletes Unlimited is another great stage to showcase professional women's basketball here in the United States and I cannot wait to compete both with and against so many talented players on a weekly basis during our inaugural season in Las Vegas starting January 26," said Brown.
The Suwanee, Ga., native spent her first two seasons at the University of Maryland (2013-15), before transferring and completing two years as a Duke Blue Devil. In those two years in Durham, Brown accumulated 1,263 points, 271 rebounds, 277 assists and 218 steals in 67 games. Brown hit 56 straight free throws—which was a Duke and ACC record—and drained at least one three-pointer in 29 consecutive games to set another Duke mark.
Brown became the 41st player in the NCAA to earn the Associated Press honors three different times, as well as the first player in the NCAA to earn the honor at two different schools. At that time, Brown was just the third player in NCAA Power Five Conference history to score over 2,000 points, 500 assists, 300 steals, and 200 three-pointers.
The No. 9 overall selection in the WNBA Draft in 2018 by the Connecticut Sun, Brown has competed in 89 contests with 13 starts as a member of the Sun, Minnesota Lynx and Chicago Sky. She helped lead the Sky to the 2021 WNBA Championship this past season, which was her fourth season in the league.
Brown took her game to another level this offseason while playing in France as she averaged 21.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 3.8 steals. Her 21.3 points a game led the league in scoring.
