DURHAM, N.C. – Duke swimming and diving head coach
Dan Colella announced the incoming freshman class for the 2021-22 season. With the announcement, GoDuke.com will be highlighting all 13 signees in the coming weeks.
KyAnh Truong will join the Duke swimming & diving program in the fall after concluding her prep career at Westwood High School in Austin, Texas. Truong primarily competes in the sprint butterfly and freestyle events.
"I chose Duke because when I took a visit there in January, the school really encouraged the pairing of having big goals in athletics and academics and I wanted to be a part of the supportive team environment," Truong said.
Truong highlights a strong Duke class as she was tabbed the fifth-ranked prospect from Texas and the 121st overall recruit in the 2021 class by SwimCloud.com. Prior to coming to Duke, she swam at Westwood High School and Western Hills Athletic Club under coaches Ian Crocker, Jimmy Bynum and Matt McBrearty.
A 10-time U.S. Swimming Scholastic All-American, Truong was a Summer Junior Nationals Qualifier and an 'A' Finalist at the Winder Junior Nationals West meet. She was also a two-time podium finisher at the UIL 6A State Championships and swept the 50 and 100 freestyle events at the UIL 6A Region 03 Championships her junior and senior seasons, 2020 and 2021.
Out of the pool, Truong was a member of the National Honor Society and the Piano President's Cup.
Truong was born on June 25, 2003. She is the daughter of Minh Truong and Nam Nquyen. She has one younger sister, NamAnh.
