DURHAM, N.C. – Duke University women's golfers
Gina Kim and
Erica Shepherd along with Blue Devil associate head coach
Jon Whithaus are set for the 2021 Arnold Palmer Cup, which will open Friday, June 11 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill.
Kim, Shepherd and Whithaus will all be representing the United States in the event and are looking to snap a streak of two straight wins for the Internationals. The Arnold Palmer Cup will run from June 11-13 and is a Ryder Cup-style tournament featuring the top men's and women's university/college golfers matching the United States against a team of international players. Â
It will mark the fourth straight year Duke has featured a golfer in the annual event as
Jaravee Boonchant (2018),
Ana Belac (2019) and Kim (2020) participated. Blue Devil head coach
Dan Brooks was the United States coach in 2020 as well. Â
The action will open Friday with mixed four-ball pairings. Shepherd will team with Sam Bennett for the U.S., and will face Hugo Townsend and Beatrice Wallin, while Kim is paired with Pierceson Coody and will go up against Julian Perico and Pauline Roussin-Bouchard of the Internationals.
Whithaus is serving as an assistant coach with the United States. Â
