DURHAM – Duke head coach David Cutcliffe announced Tuesday that linebacker Colby Campbell has signed a financial aid agreement to attend the institution and join the Blue Devil football program.
Campbell will enroll at Duke in August, 2021 after graduating from Presbyterian College with a degree in biology. As a four-year letterwinner, Campbell compiled 355 tackles, 32 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, four fumble recoveries, two caused fumbles and one interception in 40 games for the Blue Hose. His 32 tackles for loss, 13 sacks and 355 tackles rank first, tied for first and second, respectively, in the Presbyterian record book. In the spring of 2021, he totaled 10-plus tackles in five-of-seven games including a school single-game record 25 stops in a home win over Davidson.
Campbell, a unanimous First Team All-Pioneer Football League selection in 2021, earned All-America honors from The Associated Press, FCS Athletic Directors Association, Stats Perform, AFCA FCS Coaches and Athlon Sports. He was also a finalist for the 2020-21 Stats Perform FCS Buck Buchanan Award.
A native of Montmorenci, S.C., Campbell is a 2017 graduate of South Aiken High School where he was named the CSRA Player of the Year, the AAAA Defensive Player of the Year by the High School Sports Report and garnered all-state recognition.
