DURHAM – Duke Men's Basketball Head Coach
Mike Krzyzewski has announced the third member of the Blue Devils' 2021 freshman class with the signing of
Trevor Keels.
Keels, a 6-5 combo guard out of Paul VI High School in Fairfax, Va., is ranked as the No. 20 overall prospect in the class of 2021 by ESPN.
"We are ecstatic to add Trevor and his family into this talented incoming freshman class along with Paolo (Banchero) and AJ (Griffin)," said Krzyzewski. "Trevor is a long, physical guard that plays with a high IQ. He's a winner, a competitor and is no stranger to the highest levels of basketball playing with Team Takeover and Paul VI in high school."

- Rated as the No. 20 overall player in ESPN 100's rankings for the class of 2021
- The top-ranked player in the state of Virginia and the No. 4-ranked shooting guard in the ESPN 100
- Named a 2021 McDonald's All-American
- Named to the 2021 USA Nike Hoop Summit Team
- Averaged 28.7 points, 9.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 3.8 steals per contest while recording six triple-doubles this season at Paul VI High School
- Played alongside Duke rising sophomore guard Jeremy Roach for three seasons at Paul VI and won the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association (VISAA) Division-I State Championship in 2019-20
- Named the 2020-21 MaxPreps Virginia High School Basketball Player of the Year
- Earned USA Today All-USA Virginia Second Team honors as a sophomore in 2019
- Took part in the USA Basketball Men's Junior National Team minicamp in July of 2019
- Competes for Team Takeover on the AAU circuit
- Chose Duke over Kentucky, Virginia and Villanova
Keels joins five-star prospects
Paolo Banchero (ranked No. 3 by ESPN) and
AJ Griffin (No. 14) in Duke's current signing class. The Blue Devils, who have finished first or second in each of ESPN's class rankings since 2014, are looking to extend that streak to eight consecutive seasons.
