DURHAM, N.C. – Former Duke men's basketball star
Tre Jones has been named to the 2020-21 All-NBA G League Third Team, the league announced Tuesday.
Jones becomes the fourth Blue Devil all-time to be selected to an All-NBA G League Team. Former Duke players have garnered a total of eight selections, with
Quinn Cook earning three (2016-18) and
Seth Curry (2014, 2015) and
Amile Jefferson (2018, 2019) netting two each.
The 2019-20 ACC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, Jones made a significant impact in his rookie season with the Austin Spurs in just seven games. He averaged 18.1 points, 9.7 assists and 5.3 rebounds in 31.3 minutes per contest, with his season high of 30 points and 11 dimes coming against the Erie BayHawks on Feb. 13. In his Spurs debut three days earlier, Jones recorded 18 points and 16 assists, which set a record for most assists by a player in his first career G League game and was the most by a G League player in any game this season.
Jones helped the Spurs earn the No. 5 seed in the G League Playoffs with a final record of 10-5. The team was ousted in the opening round by the fourth-seeded Delaware Blue Coats on March 8.
