Beck Collects Impressive Win
On the road at top-ranked North Carolina on March 19, sophomore
Chloe Beck collected an impressive singles win against sixth-ranked Cameron Morra. After dropping a close first set, 6-7, Beck responded by cruising to a 6-0 second set victory. In a back-and-forth super-tiebreaker, Beck came out on top winning, 12-10. It marked the highest singles win of her short career and second against a top-10 opponent.
Beck owns a 21-3 dual match record and 8-1 ACC mark over her Duke career.
Key ACC Match Saturday at Virginia
Duke travels to Virginia for a key ACC match Saturday, March 27 at 1 p.m. The Blue Devils are currently 5-2 in the ACC, while the Cavaliers are 7-1. Duke has won four straight matches in the series against Virginia.
Drummy Misses UNC Match
Duke redshirt sophomore
Georgia Drummy missed the North Carolina contest with an ankle injury. She is listed as day-to-day. Since transferring into the Blue Devils, Drummy has totaled a 12-3 singles mark and 5-1 ACC ledger. Drummy is also 12-3 in doubles action, including a 10-0 dual match record.
Moving Up the Record Charts
Graduate student
Meible Chi continues to move up the Duke record charts and is now in fifth place on Duke's all-time wins list with 126 over her career. She needs nine more singles wins to move into a tie for fourth along with Julie Exum (135-41).
ACC Singles Wins
Chi also features 37 career ACC singles wins, which ranks fourth in the Duke record book. Her next victory will tie her for second along with
Kaitlyn McCarthy and
Reka Zsilinszka (38).
Win Streaks
Duke currently boasts a 53-match win streak at home in Durham, N.C., which is the longest home winning streak among Power Five Conferences. The next closest streak is North Carolina (43).
Singles Wins
So far on the season, Chi has a team-best 14 singles wins, while Beck is second with 13 and Drummy owns 12. Both Chi and Beck lead the way with six ACC wins.
Chen Versus Ranked
Over her four seasons with the Blue Devils,
Kelly Chen has collected a 104-29 singles record. Of the 104 wins, 42 of them have come against ranked opponents.
Doubles Action
Duke's tandem of Chen and Drummy are currently riding a 10-match winning streak and are 11-2 on the season together. The duo are a perfect, 10-0, in dual match play and 4-0 in ACC action. Beck and
Karolina Berankova have combined to total an 11-3 record, including 8-2 in dual match play.
Margaryta Bilokin and Chi have played most of the season at No. 1 doubles and notched a 9-2 record, including a win over seventh-ranked Victoria Allen/Petra Hule of Florida State.
Returning Home
The Blue Devils will close a road swing Saturday at Virginia and then return home for three straight matches at Ambler Tennis Stadium. First up will be Notre Dame on Monday, March 29 at 10 a.m.
