WALLACE, N.C. – Graduate student
Steven DiLisio fired a 2-under 70 in the final round to finish tied for third at the Seahawk Intercollegiate that wrapped up on Tuesday at River Landing GC in Wallace, N.C.
DiLisio's finish was his best since winning the Georgia Southern Collegiate in 2018-19, while his 54-hole score of 6-under 210 was the second-lowest of his career. The Swampscott, Mass., native birdied two of his final five holes, including a closing tap-in birdie on the par-4 ninth hole after knocking a wedge from 123-yard out to inches from the cup.
The Blue Devils had three playing individually at the Seahawk Invitational, including DiLisio, junior
Drew Powell and freshman
Cameron Martinez-Piedra – each finished in the top 20.
Martinez-Piedra signed for a 74 on Tuesday and finished tied for 11th at 1-under 215 – the best finish of his young career.
Powell, who also birdied the closing hole on Tuesday, capped the tournament with a final-round 73 and placed tied for 18th at 2-over 218. The finish was his best in two seasons at Duke, and his best career showing since a win and a top-5 during his sophomore campaign at Brown University.
Duke is back in action at the Hootie Intercollegiate at Bulls Bay March 28-30.
