DURHAM, N.C. – No. 25 Duke dropped the third game of its weekend series to Boston College, 5-2, on Sunday at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park (DBAP).

Erikson Nichols led Duke (3-4, 1-2 ACC) offensively, going 2-for-3 in Sunday's game and 6-for-9 over the course of the weekend. Graduate student

RJ Schreck both went 2-for-4 in the game with a run. Schreck also recorded an RBI.

Junior right-handed pitcher
Jack Carey got the starting nod for the Blue Devils, allowing one run, two hits and three walks in 3.0 innings of work. The Summit, N.J., native also added one strikeout to his final line.

Duke and Boston College exchanged runs in the second inning with the Blue Devils answering in the bottom half after a
Chad Knight RBI double down the left field line scored Matt, who had doubled to lead off the frame.

The Eagles broke the 1-1 deadlock in the top of the fourth following a two-run home run, but the Blue Devils responded in the bottom of the inning with a home run of their own when Schreck blasted a solo shot over the right field wall.

Boston College held onto its slim 3-2 advantage for the next two innings before it added on with a two-run home run in the seventh to ultimately seal the 5-2 victory.

Richard Brereton put in 1.1 innings of work, while recording two strikeouts and allowing two hits in a relief appearance.

Duke returns to action Tuesday at the DBAP as the Blue Devils host Davidson for a midweek matchup. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Postgame Notes:
- Duke recorded 10+ hits in each of the three games against Boston College. It was the first time the Blue Devils had 10+ hits in each game of an ACC series since doing so against Pittsburgh in April of 2019 (10, 10, 14).
- Senior catcher Michael Rothenberg extended his on-base streak to 30 consecutive games.
