DURHAM, N.C. – The 11th-ranked Duke women's tennis team will close the non-conference portion of its 2021 schedule Wednesday, Feb. 17 as the Blue Devils host VCU at 2 p.m., in the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center in Durham, N.C.
Duke (4-1) and VCU will meet for the seventh time in school history with the Blue Devils leading the series, 5-1. In the series, Duke has won four straight meetings with the last three taking place in Durham, N.C. The Blue Devils own a 15-1 mark against teams from the Atlantic 10 Conference.  Â
VCU holds a record of 2-3 on the season and is coming off a 4-0 victory over East Tennessee State on Saturday. The Rams feature Paola Exposito Diaz-Delgado in the ITA national rankings at No. 116. Â
The Blue Devils currently feature an ACC-best 49-match home winning streak at Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center and Ambler Tennis Stadium.
Duke features six ranked singles student-athletes and one doubles team on the national list. No. 8
Kelly Chen and No. 95
Karolina Berankova are 4-3 this spring, while No. 28
Georgia Drummy and No. 29
Chloe Beck are both 6-2. No. 44
Margaryta Bilokin and No. 111
Meible Chi have played to a 7-2 overall ledger.
In doubles action, Beck and Berankova have paced the Blue Devils with a 7-1 overall record, including a six-match win streak. Dating back to last season, Duke has won nine straight doubles points in dual matches. Â
Chen, a native of Cerritos, Calif., has collected a 99-26 overall singles mark in her Duke career. She is one win shy of becoming the 26th Blue Devil to reach the 100-win plateau. Â
Due to the impact of COVID-19, Duke University will begin its spring sport program seasons without spectators at home events. Contests played on Duke's campus will include essential game management personnel and broadcast media. Traditional parking lots used by fans on game day will be closed.
Duke will open ACC action this weekend as the Blue Devils travel to Virginia (Feb. 19) and Virginia Tech (Feb. 21). Â
