A 5-6 guard from Toronto, Ont., Canada, Day-Wilson had 19 points, four assists and was 3-4 from the line in the home upset of then-No. 9 Iowa in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge and followed up by scoring 14 in the win at Penn in The Palestra in Philadelphia. She is one of only four freshmen nationally to register 19 points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals in a game this year.
Day-Wilson averaged 16.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals over two games, both of which were wins for Duke. She also hit 8-of-13 three-pointers for a 61.5 percentage.
The Duke squad earned USBWA women's team honors for running their record to 8-0 and returning to the Associated Press poll for the first time since the preseason vote of the 2018-19 season. Prior to defeating ninth-ranked Iowa, unranked teams were 0-47 against top-10 ranked squads heading into the contest.
In her second season, Duke head coach
Kara Lawson became the 47th person to coach and play (Tennessee) on an Associated Press ranked team.
The Blue Devils will next host top-ranked South Carolina Wednesday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m., live on ACC Network.
