Five Blue Devils Make Appearance in Final Fall ITA Rankings

DURHAM – Duke men's tennis was well represented in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division I men's national rankings released Wednesday.

In the last rankings of the fall season, sophomore Faris Khan and junior Garrett Johns found themselves ranked in singles, while the doubles tandems of Johns and Sean Sculley as well as Michael Heller and Andrew Zhang were also featured.

Khan and Johns secured the No. 38 and No. 76 spot on the singles list, respectively, while Johns/Sculley came in as the No. 37 ranked doubles team with Heller/Zhang following closely behind at No. 39.
After an extraordinary fall season, Khan compiled a record of 11-1 in singles action, including the singles title at the Bonk and Wake Forest Invitationals. Johns finished the fall with a record of 5-2, including a victory over No. 121 Ilgiz Valiev of Texas Tech.

Despite limited action during the fall, Johns/Sculley finished with a mark of 2-2 in doubles action. All of those matches were against nationally ranked foes. Heller/Zhang on the other hand tied for the best doubles record this fall at 5-2. The pair won four-straight matches, with two against nationally ranked teams (No. 14 and No. 55), to qualify and advance to the round of 16 at ITA All-Americans in Tulsa, Okla.
Duke is back in action in January and will release its full spring slate in the next few weeks.
