DURHAM – Duke women's tennis turns its attention to spring competition, as head coach
Jamie Ashworth announced the 2022 spring slate Thursday afternoon.
The schedule features dual matches against 12, potentially 13 opponents that competed in the 2021 NCAA Women's Tennis Championships, including conference foes and national semifinalists North Carolina and NC State.
After the new year, Duke kicks off its schedule in Ann Arbor, Mich., in the Michigan Invitational Jan. 14-16, before returning home for matches against Ohio State (Jan. 21) and Princeton (Jan. 23).
ITA Kickoff Weekend returns to Durham as the host Blue Devils welcome Nebraska, Oklahoma and Furman to Sheffield Indoor Stadium Jan. 29-30.
Duke hits the road in February with four road trips starting with a Feb. 5 match versus Furman, followed by a potential trip to Madison, Wisc., Feb. 11-14 for the ITA National Team Indoors. Duke wraps up the month at Louisville (Feb. 25) and Notre Dame (Feb. 27) to open ACC play.
March heats up for the Blue Devils with seven total matches including five at home. The squad hosts five straight, welcoming Virginia (March 4), Virginia Tech (March 6), Boston College (March 18), Syracuse (March 20) and Northwestern (March 23). Duke resumes ACC competition when it travels to Florida for matchups with Florida State and Miami on March 25 and 27.
The Blue Devils open the final month of the regular season with short trips to Raleigh April 1 and Winston-Salem April 3, before hosting Georgia Tech (April 8), Clemson (April 10) and North Carolina (April 15) to wrap up the season.
Postseason play will get underway for Duke at the ACC Championships April 20-24 in Rome, Ga.
Duke finished the 2020-21 campaign with an overall mark of 18-7, including a 9-4 record in conference action. The Blue Devils advanced to the second round of the ACC Championships, then made a run to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Team Championships, as well as the round of 16 in the NCAA Individual Championships.
