Setting the Scene...
Two undefeated women's basketball teams will square off in Cameron Indoor Stadium on Thursday, Dec. 2, live on national television when ninth-ranked Iowa (4-0) travels to Duke (6-0) for a 9 p.m., tip.
The game will be carried live on ESPN with Eric Frede (PXP) and Rebecca Lobo (Color) calling the action. It will also be carried on the Blue Devil Sports Network via WDNC AM 620, the Varsity Network app and www.GoDuke.com with Chris Edwards (PXP) on the air at 8:45 p.m.

Duke will head to Philadelphia, Pa., this weekend to face Penn on Sunday, Dec. 5 at 1 p.m., in the Palestra.
A Look at Iowa...
Iowa enters the contest with a 4-0 ledger, but has not played since Nov. 17 due to a COVID pause. The Hawkeyes have been led by Caitlin Clark (21.5 points, 8.3 rebounds), Monoka Czinano (16.5 points, 5.3 rebounds) and McKenna Warnock (13.0 points, 7.0 rebounds).
The Series with Iowa...
Duke and Iowa will meet for only the second time in school history. The only previous meeting came on Dec. 4, 2008 in Durham, N.C., as the Blue Devils totaled a 71-47 victory in Cameron Indoor Stadium.

• The Blue Devils and Hawkeyes are averaging a combined 17.3 three-pointers made a game -- Duke (9.3), Iowa (8.0).

Tia Jackson will face her alma mater, Iowa, on Thursday. She graduated in 1995 and helped lead the Hawkeyes to the NCAA Final Four in 1993.
• Duke has collected a 17-11 ledger at home against top-10 ranked opponents since the 2008-09 campaign. The Blue Devils have dropped three straight, but has won three consecutive against non-conference foes -- #8 Ohio State (2017-18), #3 South Carolina (2016-17) and #8 Kentucky (2014-15).

• Duke scored 33 points in the third quarter against App State, which was the second-most in a quarter by the Blue Devils in school history. The Blue Devils outscored the Mountaineers, 33-13, in the quarter and went on to win the contest.

Lexi Gordon has hit 11-of-25 three-pointers in the first half this season for a 44.4 percentage. She has drained a total of 17 treys on the year.

Amaya Finklea-Guity came off the bench to score 11 points and pull down five boards in 18 minutes against App State - all season highs. She added seven points and four rebounds in 10 minutes versus Troy.
• The Blue Devils feature eight different players that have drained at least one 3-pointer on the season, while five have hit four or more.
• This is the first time Duke is 6-0 to start a season since 2013-14, when the Blue Devils opened with a 10-0 ledger.

Hey, I Know You...
Duke's
Celeste Taylor and
Jordyn Oliver played with Iowa's Caitlin Clark on the 2017 FIBA Americas U16 Championship team with USA Basketball. The squad won the gold medal in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Taylor and Clark also played together at the 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup with United States as the duo also won a gold medal in Bangkok, Thailand.
Both Taylor and Clark have led USA Basketball to three gold medals over their careers.
Big Ten/ACC Challenge...
Duke enters the 2021 Big Ten/ACC Challenge with a 10-3 record in the yearly event. The Blue Devils are 6-0 in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge when playing at home in Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Day-Wilson Providing a Spark...
Rookie
Shayeann Day-Wilson has provided a big spark off the bench to open the season and stepped it up a notch against Troy with a career-high 26 points and a school-record tying eight three-pointers.
Day-Wilson hit 8-of-10 three-pointers, 9-of-14 field goals, grabbed five boards and dished four assists in a career-high 32 minutes. The eight treys matched a school record held by
Miela Goodchild and Rebecca Greenwell. She also equaled the Blue Devil freshman record of eight held by Goodchild.
With her 26 points, five rebounds and four assists, Day-Wilson joins Duke great Alana Beard as the only Blue Devil freshmen to score 26 or more points, have five rebounds and four assists in a game. Beard accomplished the mark on Dec. 30, 2000 against Iowa State with 27 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
Since 2009-10, only Day-Wilson, Kelsey Mitchell of Ohio State and Jacki Bigham of Oral Roberts have collected 26 points, five rebounds, four assists and eight made 3-pointers in a single game.
Day-Wilson is one of only three freshmen nationally to drain eight or more treys in a single game -- Ally Stedman of Pepperdine and Esmeralda Morales of Portland State.
Over the last three games, Day-Wilson has averaged 17.0 points, 4.0 assists and 3.3 rebounds. She has scored double-digits in each of the last three contests.
At Dayton, she scored eight straight first quarter points, before going on to finish the game with a career-high 13 points on 5-of-7 field goals. She added 11 points against Alabama and then scored 14 points versus App State.
Top Freshman...
Duke rookie
Shayeann Day-Wilson is the top freshman scorer in the ACC with a 12.2 per game average, while her 3.83 assist average ranks second among league rookies (Olivia Miles of Notre Dame, 6.9).
With her effort this past week, Day-Wilson earned ACC Freshman of the Week on Nov. 29. She averaged 20.0 points, 4.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds as she helped lead the Blue Devils to victories over Appalachian State and Troy this past week. She hit 10-of-14 three-pointers and 15-of-24 field goals between the two contests.
Taylor Bringing All-Around Game...
Junior
Celeste Taylor has been impressive in a Duke uniform, averaging 15.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.7 steals and 3.5 assists on the year.
Taylor recently collected a season-high 24 points to go along with 11 rebounds, six steals and six assists. According to Her Hoop Stats, this was the first 26/11/6/6 performance in almost two years - and only the sixth such performance since 2009-10 nationally.
It marked the eighth time over her career she has notched 20+ points and the second time this season. Taylor also collected her first double-double as a Blue Devil and fifth of her career.
Taylor is only player in the ACC averaging over 15.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 3.0 assists.
In the ACC Stats...
Duke currently leads the ACC in scoring offense (81.67), ranks second in field goal percentage (48.3), third in 3-point field goal percentage (35.4), second in assists (19.0), second in blocks (6.3) and second in 3-point field goals made (9.3).
Celeste Taylor ranks tied for eighth in scoring (15.0), tied for 15th in rebounding (6.7), ninth in field goal percentage (47.8), 10th in assists (3.5), ninth in free throw percentage (71.4) and tied second in steals (2.7).
Elizabeth Balogun ranks fourth in blocks (1.83),
Vanessa de Jesus is third in assist/turnover ratio (2.6)and fifth in assists (4.3),
Lexi Gordon is third in 3-point field goals made (2.83) and fifth in 3-point field goal percentage (43.6).

Duke is the only team in the ACC with three players ranked in the top 20 in scoring -- Taylor (T8, 15.0), Gordon (T17, 12.8) and Day-Wilson (19th, 12.2).
Blue Devils From Downtown...
Duke has drained 56 treys over the first six games, which is the most in school history. The most through the opening six games of a season previously was 44 in 1995-96.
The Blue Devils are averaging 9.3 three-pointers per game, which ranks second in the ACC.
The Blue Devils are coming off draining a season-high 13 treys against Troy.
The most 3-pointers hit through seven games in school history was 50 in both 2013-14 and 2005-06.
Duke has also attempted a school-record 158 three-pointers through six games.
