DURHAM – Six Blue Devils scored in double figures and No. 7 Duke shot 45 percent from three-point range in a 92-52 win over Gardner-Webb Tuesday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
The Blue Devils (4-0) finished 36-of-63 from the field (.571) and had 11 players see action. After the two teams traded early baskets, Duke grabbed a 14-13 lead with 11:56 left in the first half and never looked back, holding a double-digit advantage over the final 25 minutes of regulation.
Freshman
Trevor Keels had it going offensively from the jump, hitting 4-of-6 three-pointers and 6-of-9 overall for a game-high 18 points. Keels also grabbed seven rebounds, while sophomore
Wendell Moore Jr., had 14 points, five boards and three assists. Sophomore
Mark Williams chipped in 13 points – including four dunks – but his biggest contribution came on the defensive end, where he recorded a career-high six blocks.
Duke's offensive explosion was fueled in large part by unselfish play, as the Blue Devils' 24 assists – led by a game-high six from sophomore
Jeremy Roach – were their most since Feb. 22, 2020 against Syracuse.
Lance Terry netted 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting to pace the Runnin' Bulldogs (0-3).
Roach added 10 points to go along with his six helpers. Freshman
Paolo Banchero totaled the same amount of points, with a game-high eight rebounds and two assists in 26 minutes.
Joey Baker posted his second consecutive stat line in double figures, finishing with 12 points on 4-of-7 from the floor and 3-of-4 from the free throw line.
Duke plays its fourth of five straight home games on Friday night when it welcomes Lafayette to Cameron Indoor. Tipoff it set for 8 p.m. on ACC Network.
