ITA CAROLINA REGIONAL MATCH RESULS

DURHAM – Junior Andrew Zhang is heading to the singles finals of the 2021 ITA Carolina Regional Championships after besting No. 16 ranked Connor Thomson of South Carolina in three sets on Monday.

Zhang posted a 6-2 victory in the opening set before dropping a close 7-5 decision in the second. The Bloomfield Hills, Mich., native then rallied back to claim a 6-4 win in the final frame to secure his spot in the finals. He's set to take on Wake Forest's seventh-seeded Taha Baadi in the final match of the singles tournament at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

Fellow teammate Connor Krug was also in action during Monday's semifinals but dropped a hard-fought decision to Baadi 6-4, 7-6 (5), ending his time at the tournament.
