EVANSTON, Ill. – Duke women's tennis completed its final day of play at the Wildcat Invitational, going 5-1 between singles and doubles in another successful day at Northwestern.
Following the event's "dynamic duo' format, the two Duke doubles pairs of freshmen
Ellie Coleman and
Emma Jackson and 24th-ranked senior
Margaryta Bilokin and graduate student
Eliza Omirou would swap opponents from Northwestern that each faced on day two.
The Blue Devils were just as successful against the new opponents, completing the weekend with a 6-0 record in doubles. Bilokin took down her former teammate
Ema Lazic with the help of her new teammate Omirou, rolling to a 6-2 over Lazic and Justine Leong. Coleman and Jackson were right behind them, with a 6-3 victory to complete the sweep.
The strong run of play continued in singles, with three of four matches going the way of the Blue Devils. Coleman and Jackson kept their winning ways going, with Jackson holding on for a three-set win. Bilokin was able to bounce back from a first set loss and earned a gritty, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 win over Leong for Duke's third win of the day.
The Blue Devils will return to action Oct. 21, beginning play at the ITA Fall Regionals in Winston-Salem, N.C.
