DURHAM, N.C. – Duke women's tennis head coach
Jamie Ashworth announced the signing of
Karolina Berankova Thursday as Berankova will join the Blue Devils for the 2021 campaign.
Berankova comes to Durham from Prague where she trained at the TK Sparta Prague facility under Jirí Herman.
Berankova has extensive experience playing on the international circuit where she competed at Wimbledon, the Australian Open, the French Open at the Stade Roland Garros in Paris, multiple World Cups and at championships across Europe.
She also owns a career high of 56 in singles by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and 600 by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA). In doubles competition, Berankova climbed as high as 20 by the ITF and 556 from the WTA.
"I'm a big fighter on court so I think the name Blue Devil is in my blood," Berankova said. "I can't wait for this season!"
