DURHAM, N.C. – On Thursday morning, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) that Duke women's tennis will enter the 2021 season as the sixth-ranked squad in the country.
The reigning DI National Team Indoor Champions, North Carolina, start the 2021 season atop the preseason team rankings, followed by UCLA (No. 2), Texas (No. 3), Stanford (No. 4), Pepperdine (No. 5), Duke (No. 6), Georgia (No. 7), NC State (No. 8), Florida State (No. 9) and Virginia (No. 10) to round out the top 10.
The ACC features five in the top 10 and seven in the top 25. The 2021 season marks the fifth-straight year the Blue Devils have been ranked in the top 10 preseason rankings.
In addition to team rankings, six Blue Devils were featured on the ITA singles, doubles and newcomers list.
Headlining Duke in singles was No. 8
Kelly Chen, followed by No. 28
Georgia Drummy, No. 29
Chloe Beck, No. 44
Margaryta Bilokin, No. T95
Karolina Berankova and No. 111
Meible Chi.
On the doubles side, Beck and Chen are tied for 34th while Drummy and Berankova checked in at No. 56.
Additionally, the ITA released its list of top 10 newcomers as Berankova is No. 6.
