Graham Selected All-ACC; Duke Picked Fourth Preseason

GREENSBORO, N.C.— Following a vote of the ACC women's soccer head coaches, Duke junior defender Delaney Graham was tabbed one of 11 preseason All-ACC selections, while the Blue Devils were picked No. 4 in the ACC preseason poll.
Graham, a 2019 All-ACC Second Team selection, was one of four defenders receiving honors
Other preseason All-ACC defenders were Malia Berkely (Florida State), Maycee Bell (North Carolina) and Emily Fox (North Carolina). In the midfield, Jaelin Howell (Florida State), Yujie Zhao (Florida State), Emina Ekic (Louisville), Brianna Pinto (North Carolina) and Alexa Spaanstra (Virginia) were selected, while Diana Ordonez (Virginia) was the lone forward. Louisville's Gabby Kouzelos of Louisville was tabbed for goalkeeper.
A native of Atlanta, Ga., Graham was a 2019 United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region Third Team selection, after starting all 20 contests for the Blue Devils. She helped the Blue Devils register eight team shutouts a year ago. Graham collected four assists on the year.
North Carolina received eight first place votes and 129 points and is the preseason favorite in the ACC. Florida State earned three first place votes and 123 points and Virginia had two first place votes and 113 points, while Duke had 98 points to round out the top four teams. Clemson (86), Notre Dame (79), Louisville (77), Virginia Tech (64), Wake Forest (50), Pitt (42), Boston College (35), Miami (27) and Syracuse (13) rounded out the league preseason poll.
Duke (9-4-7 in 2019) returns 10 of its 11 starters from a season ago, including 21-of-25 letterwinners from 2019. The Blue Devils welcome back 12 out of their top 13 scorers from 2019, including Mackenzie Pluck (8 goals, 6 assists), Marykate McGuire (9 goals, 3 assists) and Tess Boade (4 goals and 4 assists). Redshirt senior goalkeeper Brooke Heinsohn returns after appearing in 20 matches and notching five shutouts.
The Blue Devils will open the 2020 fall campaign Thursday, Sept. 10 at Wake Forest. The contest will start at 7 p.m., live on ACC Network Extra.
