DURHAM, N.C. -- With the Blue Devils on campus and preparing for the 2020-21 men's basketball season, head coach
Mike Krzyzewski dropped in for an update on his squad.
Since returning to campus in early August, the men's basketball team has been doing individual training and small group work, in an effort to maintain player heath and welfare, while conducting COVID testing weekly. Academically, the student-athletes are taking most classes virtually.
"Our players and staff are being tested once a week, and so far our bubble has been really good," said Krzyzewski. "As a result, we've been able to move along quite well. The first week, we did all of our medical testing. Then we started 1-on-1 instruction, and now this week we've moved into two six or seven-man groups with two coaches. We also have our weight program three times a week with small groups."
Duke is coming off a 25-6 season that ended abruptly before the ACC Tournament due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Blue Devils welcome seven returnees and will introduce seven newcomers to the fold for the upcoming season – the program's 116th all-time and the 41st under Coach K.
The 2020-21 schedule has yet to be announced.
