OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. -- As the race for the PGA Tour Championship enters the home stretch, two former Duke men's golfers are paired together for the first two rounds of the BMW Championship, which begins Thursday at Olympia Fields CC in suburban Chicago.
Adam Long and Kevin Streelman remain in the top 30 of the FexEd Cup standings after last week's playoff opener at the Northern Trust in Boston. This week's tournament brings together all players in the top 75 of the standings, and the field will be trimmed to the top 30 for next week's Tour Championship in Atlanta. With only 75 players this week, the field won't be cut after Friday.
Long and Streelman enter the BMW Championship ranked 27th and 28th, respectively, in the FedEx Cup standings after each made the cut at last week's Northern Trust. The 32-year old Long, who is in his second full season on tour, was seven-under par last week, good for a T-49th finish. He opened with rounds of 68 and 67, and posted 72 and 70 on the weekend. Streelman, who turned pro in 2001 and joined the tour in 2008, opened with a blazing six-under 64 to tie for the lead after Thursday, and finished T-61st at five-under par (64-71-73-71).
The Blue Devil duo is off the first tee on Thursday at 11:41 a.m. ET with Cameron Smith. On Friday, they will tee off at 12:47 p.m. ET.
Live TV coverage Thursday and Friday is on Golf Channel from 3-7 p.m. ET each day. Saturday's coverage is on Golf Channel from 12-3 p.m. and moves to NBC from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Golf Channel's coverage is 1-3 p.m., and NBC from 3-7 p.m.
