ORLANDO, Fla. – The Duke University women's golf tandem of Yu Liu and
Gina Kim carded two of only five under par rounds Thursday on the final day of the Eggland's Best Professional Tour at the Orange Tree Country Club in Orlando, Fla., on their way to finishing in the top four.
Both Liu and Kim signed for a three-under-par, 69, on the final day of the 36-hole event as Liu placed tied for second with a seven-under, 137, and Kim tied for fourth with a four-under-par, 140.
Kim, who is from Chapel Hill, N.C., placed as the low amateur in the event as the next closest amateur was Chloe Kovelesky, who was tied for 14th with a 146.
Taking home the title was Xiyu Lin, after registering an eight-under-par, 64, Thursday and finished with a 12-under-par, 132.
A rising junior for the Blue Devils, Kim netted birdies on No. 3 and No. 9 on her way to making the turn with a one-under, 35. She added birdies on No. 10 and No. 12 as she played her final 13 holes at three-under-par. She finished with a 69 and was three-under-par on par four holes.
After turning in an even-par front nine with seven pars, one birdie and one bogey, Liu collected birdies on No. 10, No. 12 and No. 14 to finish the back nine with a three-under, 33. The 2014 Duke All-America was one of only two golfers in the field to post back-to-back rounds in the 60s.
