INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the second straight day, Duke University rising sophomore
Erica Shepherd carded a two-under-par, 70, and remains in a tie for first along with two other golfers at the Old Oakland Golf Club in Indianapolis, Ind.
With 18 holes remaining, Shepherd is tied with Cailyn Henderson and Julia Potter-Bobb with a four-under-par, 140. The trio are the only golfers under par through 36 holes.
Shepherd, who hails from Greenwood, Ind., once again took advantage of the par fives during her round birding three of the four and committing only one bogey in her round as she hit 15 greens, 10 fairways and rolled 32 putts. Â
She opened the day with five straight pars and then two-putted for birdie on the par five sixth. Shepherd rolled in a nine-foot birdie on the par five ninth to make the turn at two-under-par, 34. On the back, she collected four straight pars and then suffered her lone bogey of the day as she missed the green. After a par on No. 15, she two-putted for birdie on the par five 16th to get back to two-under-par for the day. Shepherd closed with pars on No. 17 and No. 18. Â
Through the first two rounds, Shepherd leads the field with a six-under-par ledger on the par fives. Â
In the final round, Shepherd will tee off beginning at 10:06 a.m., along with Henderson and Potter-Bobb.
