DURHAM, N.C.— With the completion of online schooling, rising senior
Jade Williams recently took time away from her schedule to sit down with GoDuke.com to catch up. Â
A product of The Colony, Texas, Williams has started 57-of-93 contests over the last three years with the Blue Devils. Williams is a two-time Lisa Leslie Award candidate for the top center nationally. She is coming off averaging 7.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals.Â
GoDuke.com: Where are you now?
Jade Williams:Â Home in The Colony, Texas
GD:Â Has your entire family home together? Â
JW:Â Yes
GD: Your brother was a freshman at Minnesota this past year. Is he home and have you been able to train with him?
JW:Â No, not yet.
GD:Â How was finishing up with online classes/exams since everyone was sent home due to the coronavirus?
JW: Finishing strong was tougher because I was away from my professors but I finished so I'm happy.
GD: How have you and your teammates been staying in contact, while being off campus?
JW: Zoom calls and group messagesÂ
GD: How have you been able to continue to work on your basketball skills and staying active during this time?
JW: Running outside and body workouts at home. The gyms are closed.
GD: Have you picked up any new hobbies or done anything fun with the family?
JW: I have been cooking moreÂ
GD: The word is you have been riding horses. Is that something you have done much and done in the past? Â
JW: I rode a horse for 15 minutes. I was there with a friend. It was fun, i don't think it will be a hobby of mineÂ
GD:Â Have you been able to work on your cooking skills and if so what types of things have you been making?
JW: I like to make pasta and breakfast. Avocado toast is rocking my world lately.
GD: What do you miss most about being on campus?
JW: West Union.
GD: What books, television shows, podcasts or movies have you read or watched in the past few weeks?
JW:Â Outer Banks on NetflixÂ
GD:Â With you being a senior next year, are you trying to be a leader yet with this team heading into your final year?
JW:Â Everyone can be a leader. I'll do my best to be one.Â
