DURHAM, N.C. – Golfweek has released its 2019-20 All-America teams with three members of the Duke women's golf program receiving honors. Senior
Ana Belac was named to the first team, while junior
Jaravee Boonchant earned second team and sophomore
Gina Kim was selected honorable mention.
Belac was a consensus First Team All-America selection as she was also tabbed WGCA First Team All-America, while Boonchant is now a three-time All-America honoree.
In five events in the abbreviated 2019-20 season, Belac had collected a 71.85 stroke average. She notched two top-five, three top-10 and four top-20 finishes on the year. Belac, who hails from Portoroz, Slovenia, turned in her second collegiate victory at the East Lake Cup as she birdied five of her final seven holes on her way to logging a three-under-par, 69, to finish in a tie for first. Belac was selected as a finalist for the ANNIKA Award Watch List that will name the National Player of the Year.
In one of the top fields in the nation at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, Belac tied for fifth with rounds of 74, 66 and 70 for a three-under-par, 210. The tournament featured nine top 10 teams. Belac was a Third Team Golfweek All-America as a junior.
Boonchant, a product of Bangkok, Thailand, competed in five events on the season and collected a 72.31 stroke average. She notched three straight top six finishes, including third place ledger at the Tar Heel Invitational where she shot seven-under-par, 209. Boonchant also placed tied for fourth at the East Lake Cup and had a tied for sixth placement at the Windy City Collegiate Classic. She registered a team-best nine rounds of even or under par. Boonchant was a candidate for the ANNIKA Award. She was a Third Team Golfweek All-America as a freshman and First Team WGCA All-America as a sophomore.
For the second straight year, Kim received Golfweek Honorable Mention All-America honors, after collecting a 72.88 stroke average. She totaled two top 20 finishes on the season, including a tied for 11th finish at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate in the season opener with rounds of 73, 70 and 72 for a one-under-par, 215. Kim turned in seven rounds of even or under par, including a season-best six-under, 66, in the second round of the Tar Heel Invitational. She led Duke with two eagles and hit 17 greens in regulation on two different occasions in the Tar Heel Invitational.
In the final Golfweek individual rankings, Belac was the top-rated senior nationally and ranked No. 3 overall, while Boonchant was No. 14 and Kim was No. 46.
Duke concluded the season ranked No. 4 nationally and was unable to head back to the NCAA Championship to play for a second straight and eighth overall title.
