What was your favorite memory from this season?
"My favorite memory from this season was the trip to Hawaii. It was my favorite moment for so many reasons. It was my first dual match as a Blue Devil, we got to do a lot of sight-seeing in paradise, and most importantly, the whole team got to spend a lot of time together which definitely brought us closer together."
How was the transition coming to Duke – both academically and athletically?
"The transition was definitely very hard for me from an academic and athletic standpoint. College is way more difficult than high school because there is so much more reading you have to do, more material you have to learn, and more tests and quizzes. The tennis has also been a transition, because I have never played this much during high school and the weight training is way more intense than back home."
Who served as a mentor for you this year? How did they help you?
"Honestly, I think all the upperclassmen have served as mentors to me this year, because all of them have so many different experiences here at Duke and I learned a lot from them both on and off the court. They helped me in all sorts of different ways such as what is expected as a Duke tennis player or helping me pick classes."
Who is your favorite all-time tennis player and why?
"My favorite tennis player of all-time is Rafael Nadal. I really admire how he gives 100% every time he steps onto the tennis court and how he is a fighter. You never see him play a loose point or give up and that mentality is something that I try to have every time I play."
What do you look forward to most next year?
"I am looking forward to ACCs and NCAAs next year. Unfortunately, our season got cut short this year, so I was not able to experience these exciting tournaments with my team. However, I am really excited about them next year."
