DURHAM, N.C. – With the 10th-ranked Duke women's tennis team's 2020 season coming to a close due to COVID-19 concerns, GoDuke.com recapped
Chloe Beck's and
Yasmine Mansouri's first year with the Blue Devils.
Beck concluded her rookie campaign ranked No. 31 in singles by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) and was featured on two ranked doubles teams with
Meible Chi (No. 45) and
Kelly Chen (No. 63).
The Watkinsville, Ga., native played to a 20-4 overall record throughout the fall and spring and owned a 10-1 dual match ledger that included a 2-0 start to conference play. She was flawless on Duke's court four (4-0).
In doubles, Beck was 15-7 overall, 9-4 in dual matches and 3-0 in the ACC.
In the round of 16 at the 2020 ITA National Team Indoor Championship in February, Beck clinched the match with a 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory on court five as No. 5 Duke advanced past No. 6 Pepperdine, 4-1.
In the fall season, Beck saw a successful run at the ITA All-American Championships. She was originally placed in the qualifying singles draw and worked her way into the main draw by defeating six ranked opponents as she was unranked. Beck ultimately fell to No. 14 Ashley Lahey of Pepperdine in the semifinals.
Mansouri joined the Blue Devils in January for the spring slate.
Mansouri played to a 3-5 singles record and 5-4 in doubles. Mansouri teamed up with
Margaryta Bilokin in doubles and went 3-2 overall.
The Tunis, Tunisia native opened the season with a dominating 6-1, 6-2 victory over Grand Canyon on court two.
When paired with
Summer Dvorak in doubles, the unranked duo took down No. 48 Meg Kowalski/Morgan Coppoc of Georgia (6-3) in Duke's quarterfinal victory over No. 3 Georgia at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship.
