Duke women's basketball play-by-play announcer Chris Edwards is giving fans an inside look at some of his memorable basketball moments throughout his four years as the Voice of the Blue Devils. The events highlighted during this series are not meant to be a complete listing of all memorable accomplishments, but a sampling of great moments in Edwards' words.
Mikayla Boykin came to Duke as a highly-touted prospect after garnering Miss Basketball honors for the state of North Carolina and leading Clinton High School squad to the state championship her senior year. For her efforts, she was named the Most Outstanding Player for the title contest.
Needless to say, Boykin came to Durham with lofty expectations and, in her first game as a Blue Devil, she delivered by knocking down her first career triple less than one minute into the season-opener at Grand Canyon en route to a 74-61 win for the Blue Devils.
Boykin would finish with 13 points as one of five Duke players to post double-figure scoring totals.
