DURHAM, N.C. – The seventh-ranked Duke women's tennis team blanked its seventh opponent Sunday afternoon in Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center as the Blue Devils took down William & Mary, 7-0, to close out the weekend.
With the victory, the Blue Devils are riding a four-game win streak and are 11-2 overall as the Tribe fall to 5-4 this season.
Duke captured the doubles point for the 10th time this season and the fourth match in a row, giving them the lead heading into singles play.
For the second time this weekend, both
Summer Dvorak and
Hannah Zhao along with
Chloe Beck and
Kelly Chen secured wins on their respective courts. Dvorak and Zhao were first to finish with a 6-3 victory over Elisa Van Meeteren and Raffaela Alhach on court three before Beck and Chen came from behind for a 6-3 feat against Rosie Cheng and Natalia Perry on Duke's top court. With the court one dub, Beck and Chen improve to 8-4 in dual matches as Dvorak and Zhao are 2-1.
In singles play, rookie Beck was first off the court for the Blue Devils. Tabbed No. 30 by the ITA, Beck cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Charlotte Madson on court four seconds before Chen finished on court one. With a ranking of No. 7 by the ITA, Chen took down Mila Saric 6-2, 6-0 for the win. After those matches, Beck is now 10-1 in dual match play while Chen elevates to 7-1.
Clinching the match for Duke was court three as senior
Meible Chi played to a 6-1, 6-3 win over Vitoria Okuyama. With the dub, No. 80 Chi improves her flawless dual match record to 11-0.
Duke closed out singles action with wins on the final three courts as Dvorak,
Margaryta Bilokin and Zhao were all victorious on their respective courts.
Dvorak played to a 6-1, 6-1 court six win over Alhach before No. 48 Bilokin took down Perry 6-3, 6-1 on court two. Rounding out another weekend of Duke women's tennis was Zhao's 6-3, 6-1 dub over Van Meeteren.
Dvorak is now 6-1 while Bilokin improves to 10-1 and Zhao is 3-2.
The Blue Devils will have some time off from competition until Friday, March 13 when they host No. 15 Notre Dame for a noon match.
