DURHAM, N.C. – Prior to the 2020 ITA National Team Indoor Championships this weekend, the ITA released updated singles and doubles rankings for the first time since dual match season began.
Headlining the fifth-ranked Blue Devils is junior
Kelly Chen at No. 10, freshman
Chloe Beck at No. 17, sophomore
Margaryta Bilokin at No. 74 and senior
Meible Chi at No. 89.
Chen held the 10th spot nationally through the first six contests of the year, splitting time between Duke's courts one and two. Most recently, Chen clinched the match on the road at Illinois as she outlasted Mia Rabinowitz three sets (4-6, 6-1, 6-4).
Beck entered the spring slate tabbed No. 25 after an impressive fall and jumped eight spots to No. 17. Beck is 5-0 in dual matches and only dropped seven games through the first four matches of the season and most recently outlasted Illinois' Josie Frazier (7-5, 6-1).
Bilokin is 5-0 in dual matches with all victories coming on Duke's third court. Against Elon's Olivia Archer, the sophomore cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory after a 6-0, 6-2 win over Celina Buhr to open the season at Grand Canyon.
Chi is also 5-0 this season that includes a 4-0 record on Duke's fourth court. Chi blanked Elon's Victoria Saldh (6-0, 6-0) on court two and outlasted No. 125 Kolie Allen of Ohio State (5-7, 6-1, 6-2) in Duke's setback against the No. 12 Buckeyes.
In doubles, Beck and Chi hold the No. 27 spot despite not seeing action together so far this spring.
Duke will travel to Chicago, Ill., for the 2020 ITA National Team Indoor Championship Feb. 7-10.
