DURHAM, N.C. – The 10th-ranked Duke women's tennis team will open ACC competition this weekend, taking on Boston College Friday evening before traveling to New York to face 25th-ranked Syracuse on Sunday.
The Blue Devils will return to the court for the first time since the 2020 ITA Indoor National Championship semifinal game in Chicago, Ill., and are looking to bounce back from their loss to eventual indoor champion North Carolina.
The Blue Devils have dominated the series against the Eagles, holding a 15-0 advantage with their last meeting being a 4-0 sweep in Durham on April 14.
The Eagles are 8-2 overall and 0-2 in conference this season and most recently captured a 6-1 win over Cornell. The Eagles fell to Virginia (5-2) and Syracuse (4-3) in their ACC openers. Boston College is led by Yufei Long with an ITA ranking of No. 90 and No. 35 Long/Kylie Wilcox in doubles.
Duke also has a flawless record against Syracuse (9-0) and most recently collected a 6-1 victory in Durham on April 12.
The Orange enter the weekend ranked No. 25 by the ITA and boast an undefeated 6-0 record and are 1-0 in conference play. In their last match, the Orange defeated Boston College (4-3) and will take on Columbia Friday before their match against the Blue Devils Sunday. Syracuse is led by No. 77 Guzal Yusupoa.
The Blue Devils are coming off a 2-1 overall record at the ITA Indoor National Championships as they defeated No. 6 Pepperdine (4-1) and No. 3 Georgia (4-2) before falling to eventual indoor champion North Carolina (4-0).
The Blue Devils checked in at No. 10 in the latest ITA team rankings and feature several on the singles and doubles list.
