DURHAM, N.C. – During the Duke women's golf team impressive victory at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge last week, the Blue Devils collected 54 birdies and one eagle on their way to increasing their total raised for 2019-20 to $9,274.75 for the Duke Children's Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Units.
Against one of the best fields nationally, the Blue Devils carded rounds of 291, 273 and 283 on their way to finishing with a seven-stroke victory and a 54-hole ledger of 847. The field included nine top 10 teams. The win for head coach
Dan Brooks was his 137th career victory, which continues to lead all NCAA Division I head coaches.
Duke will next compete in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate March 6-8 in Hilton Head, S.C., while the men's team will see action March 1 at the Southern Highlands Collegiate in Las Vegas, Nev.
Through three years of the Birdies for Babies program, the Blue Devils have raised over $45,000 to go towards the Duke Children's Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Units.
Those looking to support Duke's partnership with Duke Children's can make pledges per birdie. Pledges will start at $0.50 and high pledge increments are welcome. If the Blue Devils register an eagle (counts as two birdies), albatross (three birdies) and hole-in-one (four birdies) they will count as stated. Each pledge will receive an autographed photo of the Duke women's golf team.
