DURHAM, N.C. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) recently announced the matchups for the 2021 ITA Kickoff Weekend. The ITA held its draft for the event on Monday, resulting in the No. 11 Blue Devils traveling to Atlanta, Ga., to take on No. 16 Michigan on Jan. 23.
Joining the Duke and Michigan in Atlanta will be host No. 9 Georgia Tech and No. 19 South Carolina. The winner of the regional will advance to the 2021 ITA National Team Indoor Championship in Stillwater, Okla., hosted by Oklahoma State, Feb. 5-7.
The Blue Devils and Wolverines will square off at 2 p.m., on Jan. 23 with the winner advancing to the championship on Sunday, Jan. 24. There will also be a consolation match played.
Last season, Duke advanced to the semifinal of the 2020 ITA National Team Indoor Championship. Duke served as a host site and defeated Kansas State (4-0) and Tulsa (4-0) before traveling to Chicago to defeat No. 6 Pepperdine (4-1) and No. 3 Georgia (4-2). The Blue Devils fell to No. 2 North Carolina (4-0) in the semifinal match.
