Seven Blue Devils Named to All-ACC Academic Team

DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke women's soccer team placed seven players on the 2019 All-ACC Academic Team as announced by the conference office Tuesday morning. The Blue Devils' seven selections topped last year's six honorees, serving as the second-most in the conference.
Virginia led all schools with eight selections, with Duke right behind with seven. Clemson and NC State each had six honorees, while Florida State, Louisville, North Carolina and Wake Forest each had five student-athletes named to the team.
Senior Ella Stevens, redshirt junior Brooke Heinsohn, junior Karlie Paschall, sophomores Delaney Graham, Marykate McGuire and Mackenzie Pluck, and freshman Sophie Jones represented the Blue Devils on the list.
Stevens earned the distinction for the third time to close out her Duke career, while Heinsohn adds to her academic accolades with the second distinction of her career after earning United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-South Region honors and Google Cloud Academic All-District III Second Team recognition earlier this season. Graham also received the honor for the second time in her career, while the foursome of Paschall, McGuire, Pluck and Jones each made their first appearance on the list.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
